about

Two Thousand And Eight is a collection of songs recorded in advance of a full studio endeavour. It features popular songs, “What’s It Like”, “Night Train”, and “Hum The Tune” and exclusive track “You’re My World”.

The three YouTube favourites have been re-recorded and mixed to provide a better quality version than those available on the video-sharing website, with supporting instruments added to create a fuller sound.

Track Name: What's It Like?
What's it like to be in love?
What's it like to feel their arms around you?
What's it like to know there's someone there
to talk about your day
and make it seem okay?

What's it like to be in charge?
What's it like to have decisions to make?
What's it like to be the one that they depend on
the on that lets them down

It's feelin' free
to hold your head up high
and shout, "this is who I am,
And this is my opinion"
And you're free
to chase the dreams of man
and find exactly what it's like
to feel free

What's it like to be remembered
What's it like to hear their voice calling your name?
What's it like when friends you haven't seen in ages
come running to your arms

What's it like to be on stage?
What's it like to sing your songs to thousands?
What's it like to hear them singing back
the lyrics that you wrote
the first time that they hear them?

It's feelin' free
to hold your head up high
and shout, "this is who I am,
And this is my opinion"
And you're free
to chase the dreams of man
and find exactly what it's like
to feel free

(repeat chorus x2, second time start with "And you'll feel free")

Free, (hold this note)
You're feeling free
Track Name: Hum The Tune
Sometimes you write a song
that you can't sing
because the subject matter
raises something
that you'd kept in the dark
Or maybe you'll sing her name
Maybe it doesn't really matter
what you say
Because you've said it
so you can't sing it out loud

If it needs to be said then say it,
and if it needs to be sung, don't hesitate
but if you wrote it and now you regret it,
hum the tune

Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na

This is a song for the ones
who feel betrayed
but not enough to lose a friend,
A song for the ones
with a hidden past,
who kept it in the dark too long
This song's about the girl
who doesn't know that he's in love with her,
and the boy who doesn't know
she loves him too

If it needs to be said then say it,
and if it needs to be sung, don't hesitate
but if you wrote it and now you regret it,
hum the tune

Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na

If it needs to be said then say it,
and if it needs to be sung, don't hesitate
but if you wrote it and now you regret it,
hum the tune

Na na na na na na na
Na na na na na na na
Track Name: You're My World
You said,
I don't love you anymore,
as if it's that easy to say
Did you ever feel this way?
When all I ever did for you
was open doors
How can you shut me out?
You shut me out

Trust me, I didn't mean goodbye
I just didn't want to hurt you anymore
but i've seen the error in my reasoning
I'm a foolish man, I know
I always will be
But are you hurting, still?

How different can two definitions be
when we're both looking for the same thing?
I used to be your everything,
and now I'm just a memory
Just a memory

But you're my world
You always will be
You were the first
to break my heart
And in the grand scheme
To the last scene
I'll be there

The feeling slowly fades
but never dissipates
I still can't understand
why you would live a lie,
or how you ever managed
to convince yourself
that we could carry on

Ask me if I knew it was right
I didn't know anything at all
I felt so fucking small
I barely remember
exactly what I said
What I said

How differently two people perceive
when we're both working for the same dream
We both needed an end that day
but maybe we're not quite the same
We're not the same

But you're my world
You always will be
You were the first
to break my heart
And in the grand scheme
To the last scene
I'll be there
Track Name: Night Train
Pale snow white with cherry lips
Your taste will linger
like the last time
The shadows 'neath your eyes
hide under thick black lines
that draw me in

I'm alive in broken moments
but mostly living for the
sparkling gold that flecks
the ocean of your eyes
Those shining promises
Relieve me of my senses
and I simply smile

Sing to me; your voice is all I strain to hear
Talk to me - for conversation keeps you near
Kiss me gently, I will hold you
'til the night train comes

Open hearts and zipped down jeans
our passion's stilted
by the fear of being caught
Or fear of growing close
and never letting go
I crossed your lines

Throw words around
and skirt around the ones that matter
Decide it isn't time,
Not now, not yet
But you don't leave
You don't leave
Please don't leave

Sing to me; your voice is all I strain to hear
Talk to me - for conversation keeps you near
Kiss me gently, I will hold you
'til the night train comes

And all this waiting
All this suppression
I don't know what it's doing to you
But it's killing me

When the night train comes
we're still talking about us
and when you realise
you quickly take your leave
At the bus stop we are silent
and we barely touch
But inwardly I'm crying out
When the bus comes round the corner
We make fleeting goodbyes
and with a kiss you're gone
until the next time
And I'm left hoping
I'm left hoping
Hoping I'll see you again

Sing to me; your voice is all I strain to hear
Talk to me - for conversation keeps you near
Kiss me gently, I will hold you
'til the night train comes
Track Name: Butterfly in the Breeze
Is it raining in your heart?
It’s raining in mine
Is it beating in sequence?
Because mine’s out of time
And I’m feeling defeated
And you’re in your prime
And I’m feeling like
A butterfly in the breeze

Is it hard to be happy?
Is it hard to be free?
Is it worth all the heartache?
Is it easier to see
if you’ve already made it
And you’re looking at me
And I’m feeling like
A butterfly in the breeze

Will the waiting be over?
Will the winds ever cease?
Or is everyone just a butterfly in the breeze?

Is it good once you make it?
Do you feel better now?
Do you know how you got there?
Could you tell me how?
How to get where you’ve got to
How to make your voice count
Because I’m feeling like
A butterfly in the breeze

Will the waiting be over?
Will the winds ever cease?
Will the loss turn to profit?
Will the hurting decrease?
Will we break from this struggle?
Will you vindicate me?
Or is everyone just a butterfly in the breeze?

Because I’m feeling like
A butterfly in the breeze
